Suddenly we were gone from their presence
Poof 
An avatar on a screen
A voice-over on a slide show
A tone-less comment on a document

But they were still with us
In our hearts

And when we meet again...if we meet again
Masked
Eyes only
Hidden smiles
Hugs forbidden

But they will be with us
In our hearts

There are no good choices now
None
Virtual...who will help them?
Part-time...who will be with them?
All together...who will die?

But...
Hearts

By Doris Martin You would think that I have plenty of time to do so much now that I am staying home and staying safe. “Seniors” (I still can’t wrap my head around that term as if it didn’t pertain to me) are supposed to be careful with this monster looming outside our windows. So, I’d better get down to business! First of all, I now should have time to finish the book I’m writing about my Swedish grandparents. Actually, plenty of time to get it printed for my family by Christmas. I thought the days would go slowly for me but it’s quite the opposite. It seems now that as soon as I finish breakfast, instead of starting to write the 1,000 words a day suggested by many authors, I am thinking about what I can make for lunch and then dinner. We were used to eating very healthy meals making fresh fish three times a week with chicken or pork tenderloin on the other two nights and “whatever” on the seventh night. Watching the children next door      chasing their new puppy around the yard every day. Memes on facebook:      “ . . .here I am laying on the couch, being a hero”. A wave from the Rich and Charlie's delivery man       as I pick up dinner on the door step. Leisurely reading a library book         with no due date in sight. Mother Earth

  Mother Earth is hurting and in distress.  She cries out in pain,  warning us to stop polluting her body and soul.  Telling us to stop  killing her beloved animals and fish . Causing her body to get warmer and warmer  as her distress grows.   But we don’t listen. We continue to exploit what she has so graciously and lovingly provided  by polluting the air, ground and water.  We disrespect the people around us  causing more pain.   Trying desperately to warn us, s he sends lightening to start fires; tornadoes, dere chos and  hurricanes  to level the buildings  along with  floods  and tidal waves , trying to get us to start over .   Shutting our ears to  her cries of pain, we  rebuild but ignore her lessons as we  continue to pollute her skies with the exhaust of our cars and trucks, trains, planes and machinery.
